Pair of Long 3 1/2-Inch Cut-Steel Earrings With Sterling Silver Ear Wires
    Circa. 1820-1830          Great Britain
Georgian era cut steel earrings came in a variety of shapes and sizes, with also a variety in the shapes and sizes of the individual cut steel rivets used in their production.  Examples of a Georgian chandelier earring, intensively and artfully made of the tiniest bits of hand cut steel.  Girandole drops were in style during the Georgian era, and this pair utilizes that design in the dangling design of the cut steel.   This earring would be worn in the evening, to the great houses,  lit with candlelight   Today's lighting also provides a wonderful back drop for this kind of earring with its  great reflective qualities.
